Amateur String chamber music playing

The chamber music sessions are for amateur and semi-professional string players of all standards who would like to play trios, quartets, quintets or sextet on a weekly basis in a regular ensemble.

Every effort is made to fit players into a quartet, trio or other string ensemble according to their appropriate standard, a player to a part i.e. a quartet will consist of four people and no more.

There is a wide range of standards but a minimum of grade 3 and some experience of sight reading is required.

Our aim is to provide a friendly atmosphere in which you can enjoy the music, meet other musicians and improve your skills. The sessions are all coached by Dorit Lichtenstern who is a professional musician, and will provide an opportunity to learn repertoire, style, good ensemble playing, and to improve all technical aspects of playing.

If you want to join the chamber music evenings, please contact Dorit Lichtenstern. Joining is on a trial basis, not auditions. Players who don't want to join on a regular basis but want to play from time to time are welcome to join our deputies list.

It is possible to join at any time during the year, and it may be possible to arrange tuition for chamber groups at other times besides Monday Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

Every evening ends with wine and nibbles, and a social chat.
These refreshments are included in the course fees.
